On an annual basis, 1 acre of hemp produces more
paper, as much as that of 2 to 4 acres of what trees would generate. Hemp can produce tissue paper to
cardboard, all type of paper products. This as trees are made up of only 30% cellulose. The other 70% of the tree must be removed using toxic chemicals, until the cellulose can be formed into paper. The higher the percentage of cellulose in a plant, the better, as fewer chemicals is used, therefore less work needs to be done before the paper can be made. It can be recycled many more times than
tree-based-paper and requires less toxic chemicals to manufacture. The quality
of hemp paper is superior to tree-based-paper, this as hemp paper can last
hundreds of years without degrading.
For instance let us take into consideration
the Gutenberg bible, made of hemp and the “first book” made
on a printing press. It is still available today. In fact up until 1883, 75%
to 90% of all paper in the world was made from cannabis hemp fibre There are
many famous writing besides the Gutenberg bible that were written on hemp paper
and these include; the king James bible of the 17th century and the first
draft of the U.S declaration of independence just to name a few.

DeleteWith global trends towards decriminalization of marijuana in many states in the United States, Latin America and Europe attitudes are now shifting in the Caribbean. Recent statements by the Chief Justice Archie of Trinidad and Tobago could imply a softening of official policy away from incarceration. Additionally, decriminalization has many benefits, including freeing up the jails and the case loads of magistrates and police officers to focus on trafficking and organized crime. The state could also reap employment and tax benefits from having (WITCO) develop and own farms for the monetization of marijuana. And so, this blog is timely, as it seeks to address many of the myths and issues surrounding marijuana use. I am please to see, one of my fellow collegiate addressing this taboo subject.
